Bloggeration 08APRIL2008- Trip to Europe: Napoli, Italy
|
After Lauren, Josh, and I freshened up at their house, we ventured out to downtown Napoli to see the sights and beautiful architecture that is home in Italy. Below are some of the pictures from the afternoon. I know that there are a lot, but believe me...I tried to edit as much as possible, and Italy is so beautiful! How can you pick and choose??? :)
Here are Josh and Lauren at The Metro station when we were waiting for the train to pick us up:

This is the Metro station itself...

Even the subway stops are beautiful in Italy!
But of course no subway/metro station would be complete without some grafitti, would it? No, sir. So, here's a sample of the Italian street art:
We eventually made it to downtown Napoli...

Beautiful! Gorgeous! Wish you were here!

This is one of my favorite pictures that I took...Josh is trying to figure out which direction we are headed, and you can see that I don't give a rip. I'm just happy to be there to document the moment! :)

We found our way and headed off to see more beautiful sites...

Of course we all have our own definition of beautiful sites,
and these fall under mine.... :)

We stopped for a coffee in a bar:
In Italy, the bars are mostly coffee bars, and this is no Starbucks where you get a gallon of caffiene to go. There, you order your coffee drink at the bar and then stand there and drink it, much in the way that you would a cocktail here in the States! Most of the Europeans get an espresso though, which you usually throw back in two sips. I opted for the whimpy cappucino...we'll get to my first espresso exprience later.
Moving along...We headed down to the water front of the Gulf of Napoli, where you can see a beautiful view of Mount Vesuvius:

This is the volcano that infamously erupted in 79 AD burying the city of Pompeii in ash and rock in a 2-Day eruption. Pompeii remained buried until it was accidentally rediscovered in 1748!
Here's Josh practicing his favorite hobby, photography:

He's much better at it than I am. I probably should have ripped off some of his shots and passed them off for my own, because as you can see here I was need of some creative help:

So those are some highlights from the first afternoon!
Up next, my first Italian espresso...it was an adventure.... |
