Okay - so I know it's not St. Paddy's Day - BUT - we Irish folk appreciate this stuff all year...
Each of my children have an Irish Blessing in their room...I read it to them everyday because I just want them to be able to recite them and because I want them to have memories of us doing sweet things like that. Plus - in all honesty - they are Irish thoroughbreds - and many a full bar will turn to them for a great toast. As their mother, it is my responsibility to make sure they are prepared for all things in life...right? Okay. Justified :-)
Theresa's says:
May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow,
and may trouble avoid you wherever you go.
Charlie's says:
May you always walk in sunshine.
May you never want for more.
May Irish angels rest their wings right beside your door.
Please don't accuse me of 'labeling' my children, but one CLEARLY has a higher propensity for trouble...The other CLEARLY has a much higher propensity for sainthood...
This is one of my favorite Irish Blessings. I need to find a place that can print/frame it...any suggestions?
May God grant you the strength and faith
to count your blessings, not your crosses;
count your gains not your losses.
Count your joys not your woes;
Count your friends not your foes;
Count your smiles not your tears;
Count your courage not your fears.
Count your full years not your lean;
Count your kind deeds not your mean.
Count your health not your wealth;
And love your neighbour as much as yourself.
