From Rev. Run, May 1st 2008 -
Good Morning. They say Thomas Edison failed 1000 times when creating the light bulb... His story is a bit different. He said: "I didn't fail 1000 times...it just took 1000 steps to creat it!". Be patient! Keep going.
A few months ago, during my "I'm obsessed with Kid Rock" phase...I signed up for Rev. Run's daily Words of Wisdom. Kid Rock and Rev are BFF's - and Kid is the Godfather to Rev's youngest children. Rev. Run's real name is Russel Simmons - he is the "RUN" in Run DMC ... those of you reading this blog were probably introduced to Run DMC when they covered Aerosmith's 'Walk This Way' with Steven Tyler. However, Run DMC was one of the original rap groups - super cool - and pretty vulgar.
ANYWAY...
I have always been amused by the fact that Russel Simmons is now a practicing 'man of God' ... he's really appears to be kind and bright - and a really good father and husband. If you haven't seen 'Run's House' on MTV - you should Tivo at least a couple episodes...it's pretty good.
ANYWAY...
As more of a joke, several months ago I signed up for Run's Words of Wisdom, assuming I could write some jokes about them to use on the morning show - back - in - the - day. To my suprise and delight - there is really no room for jokes when it comes to Rev's Words, because they're quite inspirational and I swear, each day his Words of Wisdom speak directly to me.
SO...
I will begin posting Rev's Words here on my blog a few times each week. Sometimes they're quotes from others... sometimes they're random thoughts...but regardless - they're almost always fantastic.
