Hey there! Happy Thursday...and Happy 1st Day of May. MAY - IT'S MAY! Wow...time flies. Hope you are ready for the weekend. The weather is going to be gorgeous and I like gorgeous-ness. Is that a word? Probably not...ANYWAY.
If you were listening this morning, then you know I was out at the Lipton Tea Plant in Suffok. What's that? You didn't know there was a Lipton tea Plant in Suffolk? ME NEITHER!!! I had no idea. Apparently my mom did...she had a cousin named Edgar, or Frances or something like that...who worked at The Lipton Tea Plant back in the day. So - yeh thanks for telling me mommy.
It was such a FUN morning! We gave away tickets to the BIG Lipton Tea 250 tomorrow in Richmond, I got to see the Kasey Kane Number 9 car (wish I could have seen Kasey...he is H-O-T!!!) and I got to tour the plant. More importantly...I got to meet the fabulous employees of Lipton Tea. 400 PEOPLE WORK THERE! Some have worked there for 25 years...and are 2nd generation employees. They love their jobs.
But the BEST part of the day was when the plant manager...Ted Naronzy...told me that Lipton and it's parent company Unilever were MATCHING what we raised for the tornado victims. Matching it DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR!
The tornado hit Suffolk Monday. On Tuesday Entercom Norfolk (that's us...94.9 The Point) raised $15,000 cash and gave it to the Red Cross. Well Mr. Ted and Lipton matched it. Wrote a check. Gave even more money to help the tornado victims get back on their feet. I'm happy you can't see me right now...cause not only am I in a lab coat and a hair net...but I am crying!
THANKS LIPTON! WE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE YOU! LOVE YOU!
